The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has dismissed allegations of land looting by government officials, asserting that public lands remain secure under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.

This response comes after Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, raised concerns about alleged looting of state lands by members of the government.

Ablakwa accused the government of selling lands belonging to institutions such as the DuBois Centre at Cantonments, the Park and Gardens at Cantonments and Wa, the Judicial Service at Cantonments, and the Prisons Service at Roman Ridge to cronies.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, August 14, Jinapor rejected these claims, emphasising that the management and use of public lands are handled with full transparency and integrity.

“The overarching question all the time should thus be what use was a particular land put, does it serve the public interest. Distinguish guests, ladies and gentlemen, as managers of public lands we are not oblivious of our fiducial duty to the people of Ghana.

“Under the able and outstanding leadership of President Akufo-Addo, we will continue to discharge these duties transparently anchored on the highest standards of integrity, candour and utmost good faith to ensure the protection and judicious use of public lands in the public interest and for the ultimate benefit of the people of Ghana, the true owners of these lands.

“I am happy to report to the country that the public lands of Ghana are intact and secured under the current government,” he stated.
