Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama, has revealed that minority caucus is prepared to take further action if the government fails to sanction the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi.
This comes amid calls on the government to sanction Sammy Gyamfi following the widespread circulation of a video showing Gyamfi handing over an undisclosed sum of money, reportedly in US dollars, to Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Monday, May 12, Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama noted Gyamfi’s actions violate the President’s code of conduct for public officials. He reiterated the Minority’s position that the Gold Board CEO should either be suspended, dismissed, or voluntarily resign.
According to the Walewale MP, the minority caucus is ready to explore other constitutional means should the government refuse to sanction Sammy Gyamfi
“If the President doesn’t act, we, the minority side of the House, have other options; the parliamentary tools, the legal tools and the civic tools. Because if we feel strongly that there is a breach of the law by a public officer, we will have to let the law speak,” he said.
