Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has cautioned the new Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga against introducing more debates.
According to him, doing so will hinder the government’s ability to conduct its business efficiently.
This follows Ayariga’s appointment as Leader of the Majority Caucus, thus succeeding Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, who now serves as the Minister of Finance.
Speaking on the floor of parliament on Thursday, January 23, Afenyo-Markin posited that the new Majority Leader is a great debater.
He admitted Ayariga’s love for debates but emphasised that while debates are important, they should not be at the expense of the government’s business.
“One of my researchers told me that leader, your new leader is always glued to his law, he loves debate so get your members to get ready. I know you enjoy the rules and will not allow things to go unattended.
“Let me quickly remind you sir that as a government leader, if you try to introduce more debates, government business will suffer,” he stated.
