President-elect John Dramani Mahama has urged his supporters to refrain from acts of vandalism and instead focus on positive efforts to help rebuild the nation.

In a national address following the confirmation of his decisive victory in the December general election by the Electoral Commission on Monday, December 9, Mahama addressed reports of damage to government facilities and installations, calling for an end to such actions.

He also highlighted the seriousness of the work ahead, urging his supporters to exercise restraint in their celebrations and focus on the long-term goal of national progress.

“There have been reports of vandalism at some government facilities and installations. I urge you not to vent your frustrations in criminal enterprises. We must channel our anger and frustration into the positive of resetting and rebuilding our nation,” he stated

“Let us be brief in our celebration, for the weight of office will be an onerous one. The expectation of Ghanaians is very high and we cannot afford to fail them,” he stated.
