The National Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has accused some Electoral Commission (EC) officials of causing intentional delay in the results collation process.

In a media address from the party’s headquarters, Gyamfi emphasised that he has evidence to buttress his claim. He cited Obuasi East as one of the constituencies facing deliberate delay in collation.

According to Gyamfi, the NDC has garnered majority seats in their internally collated results so far.

He called on the Peace Council and other stakeholders to call on the EC to fast-track the collation process.

“What we want is for the EC to fast-track the collation process at the constituency collation level because we see evidence of deliberate delay on the part of some, not all EC officials at the collation level. I am going to give you further and better particulars to that effect.

“The most worrying issue for us at the moment has to do with the attitude of some criminally minded EC officials in some of the constituencies. Not all of them, some have been very professional, and they have done their work dutifully, but others are deliberately delaying the collation of results at various constituency collation centres which is escalating tensions and leading to violence,” he stated.
