The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) has signaled strong interest in partnering with emerging young farmers and agribusinesses discovered during the 2025 AgriFair, with the goal of integrating them into Ghana’s fast-developing agro-ecological enclaves under the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative.

Acting CEO of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), Alex Mould, was at the 2025 Channel One AgriFair on Sunday, June 22, to identify and engage promising young farmers and agribusinesses for potential partnerships under Ghana’s growing network of agro-ecological enclaves.

Speaking at the fair on Sunday June 22, he said the authority was impressed with the innovation and entrepreneurial drive exhibited by youth-led ventures at the fair and was actively exploring ways to support them with access to large-scale agricultural lands being developed in collaboration with the 24HE Secretariat.

MiDA, the accountable implementation agent for the 24HE agro-parks initiative, is already working with promising agribusinesses such as Marphlix and Agro Kings—both early beneficiaries of the agricultural enclave programme. The authority is now looking to onboard more entities for new sites being scoped in Banda, Kumawu, Dodekope, and other strategic locations.

“We’re here at the fair to identify up-and-coming young farmers and entrepreneurs who are ready to scale. The idea is to support them to take up sizable acreage within the agro-ecological enclaves we’re developing with the 24HE Secretariat,” he explained.

As part of the expansion, MiDA is undertaking rigorous feasibility studies to ensure the viability of the targeted lands. These assessments cover irrigation planning, land clearing, road access, electricity extension, and cost modeling for land preparation—critical steps toward opening up between 20,000 and 50,000 acres for intensive cultivation in each enclave.

The agro-parks are a cornerstone of Ghana’s push to modernise agriculture, create decent jobs, and improve food security. The development of these enclaves is a cross-sectoral effort involving agencies such as the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA), Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Ministry of Energy (MoE), Ministry of Finance (MoF), Ministry of Roads and Highways (MoR\&H), Ministry of Local Government (MoLG), the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Development Bank Ghana (DBG), and Ghana EXIM Bank.

By investing in well-planned agricultural hubs and aligning with capable young agripreneurs, MiDA and its partners hope to transform Ghana’s agriculture landscape—one enclave at a time.

The Agrifair 2025 is powered by Channel One TV with support from 97.3 Citi FM and it is proudly sponsored by the Ghana Exim Bank, Legacy Crop Improvement Centre, Development Bank Ghana, Agri-Impact Limited, the Horticulture Business Platform and Twellium Ghana Ltd, Technology partner; Farmerline.
