Ghana has earned a prominent seat on the global labour stage as Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, leads the country’s delegation and co-chairs this year’s International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conference in Geneva.
The high-level international conference convenes governments, employers, and workers from across the world to deliberate on labour issues, shape global employment policies, and promote decent work standards.
Dr. Pelpuo’s appointment as Co-Chair of the conference not only highlights his strategic leadership but also positions Ghana as a key voice in international labour dialogue.
His selection reflects growing confidence in Ghana’s commitment to social justice and adherence to global labour standards.
The Ghanaian delegation is expected to participate in major discussions on job creation, social protection, and workplace safety.
The team will also showcase Ghana’s recent progress in labour reforms and explore opportunities for international collaboration to boost employment and improve working conditions at home.
Speaking ahead of the conference on Saturday, May 31, Dr. Pelpuo expressed optimism about Ghana’s involvement, stating that the platform would “amplify the voices of workers and employers” in Ghana and further deepen global partnerships in the labour sector.
