The All African Women Poetry (AAWP) Festival, a pan-African celebration of poetry and storytelling, is set to host the third edition of the festival from Thursday, May 22 to Saturday, May 24 in Accra.
The 2025 edition will feature an exciting lineup of African literary voices, knowledge-driven conversations, and creative performances—all free and open to the public.
Speaking on The Chat on Channel One TV on Saturday, May 17, Founder, Emma Ofosua said this year’s programme is designed not only to entertain but to empower.
“I think beyond just creating an event, I really look forward to seeing lives transformed. With knowledge-driven conversations, we access the information that empowers us to liberate ourselves or walk the path through liberation,” she said.
The festival opens with a keynote lecture titled “In the Wake of Silence” by Ghanaian academic and diplomat Prof. Abena Busia, and will also welcome Kenyan literary icon, Sitawa Namwalie.
This year’s festival is held in collaboration with UNESCO, the British Council Ghana, and the Nubuke Foundation (NLINGhana), and will feature nine exceptional writers from Ghana alongside other African poets.
Running across multiple venues in Accra, the AAWP Festival promises a dynamic cultural space for performance, reflection, and connection—celebrating the power of African women’s voices in literature.
