The Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, has been summoned by Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah after a viral video showed him handing cash—reportedly in US dollars—to controversial evangelist, and former fetish priestess Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
Sources at the Jubilee House confirmed to Citi News that Gyamfi has been called to explain the circumstances surrounding the transaction, which has drawn sharp public criticism and raised questions about the ethical conduct of public officials.
Critics say the incident risks undermining President John Dramani Mahama’s newly launched Code of Conduct for Public Officials, which underscores integrity, accountability, and transparency as core values in public service. The code forms part of broader anti-corruption reforms aimed at restoring public confidence in state institutions.
In response to the controversy, Sammy Gyamfi issued an apology on Sunday, May 11, describing the gesture as a private act of goodwill that was never intended for public consumption.
Despite the apology, insiders say the Chief of Staff is treating the matter with urgency due to its political sensitivity and potential reputational damage to the administration.
