The Renal Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has been shut down for more than a week, leaving patients who depend on dialysis services stranded and deeply concerned about their health.

Frustrated patients say they have received no official explanation from the hospital regarding the reason for the prolonged closure. For many, the silence is adding to their distress, as regular dialysis treatments are critical to their survival.

Kojo Baffour Ahenkora, spokesperson for the Renal Patients Association, confirmed the development and described the toll it is taking on members. He said the disruption is causing heightened anxiety and worsening health conditions among patients.

The hospital’s Public Relations Officer is currently in a meeting with management to discuss the closure and how best to respond to growing concerns.

Calls continue to mount for transparency and urgent action to restore dialysis services at the country’s largest referral facility.
