The Mahama government has debunked allegations that several high-profile individuals, including ministers, are yet to submit their asset declaration forms.
Media reports suggested that some government appointees have failed to declare their assets as directed by President John Dramani Mahama.
According to reports, nine out of 55 ministers and deputy ministers have failed to comply with the law and the President’s directive, missing the President’s deadline of March 31, 2025.
However, addressing journalists in Accra on Thursday, May1, the Minister in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, firmly accused publishers of misreporting.
“I’ve been in touch with The Fourth Estate and have drawn their attention to significant discrepancies in the reporting they put up. There are people who missed the deadline and have erroneously been accused of not meeting the deadline. We’re in the process of reconciling that, and many other further actions or communications will be made.”
The former Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo, called on President Mahama to take immediate action against ministers who have flouted the directive.
“If I were the President, I would not tolerate this disrespect, and so, I will not let it slide at all. Except that there are justifications for non-compliance,” he said.
