The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga has assured an all-inclusive implementation of the National Apprenticeship Programme, hinting at the introduction of a disability desk.

His assurance comes as NYA has been tasked with implementing the National Apprenticeship Programme, aimed at equipping young Ghanaians with practical skills for employment.

In an exclusive interview on Channel One Newsroom on Wednesday, March 19, the NYA CEO who also chairs the National Apprenticeship Programme’s Technical Committee, noted that the disability desk will seek to address the concerns of persons who are living with disability and want to benefit from the programme.

He indicated that the Deputy CEO of NYA who happens to be a person with disability himself will chair the disability desk to ensure its effectiveness.

“With the issue of people living with disabilities, I have a Deputy CEO in the person of Mr Adongo Atule who is visually impaired so we are very very passionate about people living with disabilities. He works with us and we have assured him that there is going to be a desk for people living with disabilities to take advantage of the apprenticeship programme and also the Adwumawura Project which we will allow him to run.

“He is able to identify his colleagues and they can easily identify with him and also make sure they come on board. Our doors will be open to all manner of persons including PWDs,” he said.
