Residents in parts of Accra are urging authorities to take decisive action against herdsmen who allow their cattle to roam freely in the city.

They argue that the unregulated movement of livestock is creating unsanitary conditions, obstructing traffic, and disrupting daily activities.

During a visit to Dansoman, several cows were seen loitering around on the street with no herdsman.

Residents expressed their frustration to Channel One News, calling for stricter enforcement of city by-laws.

“They are always on the road every morning. There was a day they invaded my house and eased themselves in. They are also causing a lot of traffic,” Akua Nyarko, a resident of Dansoman Tunga stated.

“These stray cattle are making life difficult for us. They enter our homes unexpectedly. Just the other day, they knocked over our soup and ate our yams. They even relieve themselves here,” Akosua Agyekum, another resident lamented.

“They bring them around all the time. When we express displeasure, they become offended. One of the cattle charged toward me and I had to run back into the house. It is very worrying. We are human, we can’t live like this. It is not right. If one of these animals hurt someone, all the herdsman will say is sorry,” a resident of Dansoman, Akua Asante bemoaned.
