321 pharmacists have not been paid since June 2023 – Ato Forson

Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has revealed that a total of 321 pharmacists employed into the public sector since June 2023 have not received salaries.

Presenting the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy in Parliament on March 11, he noted that a social media conversation ahead of the budget presentation unraveled the issue.

Dr Ato Forson assured that the government has initiated steps in addressing the concerns of the aggrieved individuals.

“Mr Speaker, we also engaged the youth in a dialogue on social media as part of our new budget consultation. Mr Speaker, during my engagement with the youth, it was revealed that 321 pharmacists who were employed since June 2023 have not received salaries.

“We will take urgent steps to remedy this situation immediately,” he assured.

He further highlighted the importance of including the youth in policy formulation while stressing that his interaction with the youth was an eye-opening experience.
