A 24-year-old mobile money vendor, identified as Junior, has been brutally murdered in his room at the Kwadaso Onion Market in Kumasi, leaving the community in shock.

The tragic incident is believed to have occurred on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

Junior, a native of Ejisu Onwe, was well-known among his colleagues and friends as a hardworking and diligent individual who worked at the Kumasi Race Course.

According to an eyewitness, Junior returned home on Saturday with a substantial amount of money—over GH¢200,000. The witness suspects that the killers may have been motivated by the large sum of money he had in his possession.

The police have launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made so far.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of mobile money vendors, who often handle large sums of cash and are at risk of robbery and violence.

National President of the Agent Bankers Association of Ghana (ABAG), Daniel Akosah, described the murder as shocking and a serious threat to mobile money businesses in the region.
