President John Dramani Mahama, will make a working visit to the Burkinabe capital on Monday, March 10, 2025.

During his stay in the West African nation, Mahama and his Burkinabe counterpart,  Captain Ibrahim Traore will hold talks on bilateral cooperation between the two countries, united by strong historical and geographical ties.

The security situation in the Sahel and sub-regional and international geopolitics will also be on the agenda of the discussions between the two Heads of State.

President Mahama’s visit forms part of his diplomatic efforts to bolster Ghana’s ties with its ECOWAS neighbors and tackle regional security challenges, particularly in relation to the newly established Alliance of Sahel States.

He began his good neighbourliness tour this weekend with visits to three Sahelian countries—Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso.

In February, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, disclosed that President Mahama had been at the forefront of negotiations aimed at facilitating the reintegration of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso into ECOWAS.
