Construction work on the three Agenda 111 hospital projects in the Bono Region has come to a standstill, raising concerns among residents.
A visit to the project sites in Amasu (Dormaa Central Municipality), Jinijini (Berekum West District), and Fiapre (Sunyani West Municipality) revealed that work had halted, with no visible construction activity.
The Bono Region was allocated three hospitals under the Agenda 111 initiative to improve healthcare delivery.
However, progress has stalled, and residents are now calling on the new government to ensure their completion.
At Jinijini, construction was delayed due to land litigation. The site has since been abandoned, with no workers present. Albert Adu Adjei, a resident, has urged the government to resume work on the project.
“We are grateful to the NPP government for initiating a hospital project here at Berekum. But we are pleading with this new NDC government to complete the hospital for us. If they can complete this hospital, it is going to create a lot of jobs.
“Our mothers can get a place to sell food, and our sisters and brothers who have been able to complete nursing training school can also get some form of employment. Even those of us who were not able to go to school can also get menial jobs to do at the hospital,” he stated.
The situation is similar in Amasu and Fiapre, where construction has also stalled. Concerned residents in these areas are appealing to the new administration to prioritize the projects.
“When it comes to health, it is something that is very important. Given the fact that this project has been far advanced, we can only plead with the government to complete it for us,” said Raymond Adomah Manu, a resident.
Residents remain hopeful that the government will take swift action to ensure the completion of these critical healthcare facilities.
