The excitement is palpable as the 2025 Heritage Caravan, organised by Channel One TV and Citi FM, officially begins its 8-day journey across Ghana.
This year’s caravan, part of the Heritage Month celebrations, promises to take participants—affectionately called ‘Caravanites’—on an unforgettable exploration of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, iconic landmarks, and hidden gems.
From thrill-seekers to cultural enthusiasts, the Heritage Caravan has become a must-attend event for both Ghanaians and visitors, offering a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the country’s rich traditions, history, and vibrant communities.
The adventure kicked off at the premises of Channel One TV in Tesano, Accra, where Caravanites were welcomed with a grand ceremony featuring delicious food and lively brass band music from Just Groove Brass.
Participants also had the chance to network and socialize before embarking on their journey.
Over the next eight days, Caravanites will traverse 14 regions of Ghana, exploring its diverse landscapes and heritage sites.
As the caravan sets off, patrons are filled with excitement and high expectations for what promises to be an unforgettable experience.
Tina, a returning participant, couldn’t contain her joy as she fondly recalled the memories from last year’s caravan.
“I was on the caravan last year and it was fantastic. Since then, I told myself that I am going next year. So, I began saving, in cash, for this year. Because I didn’t want the situation where I would pay the cheque and the bank would tell me the cheque didn’t go through, and I came here in October to book my space. So, I am here to repeat myself. Trust if God helps me, I will go next year also,” she stated.
Tina, who will be celebrating her birthday during the trip, added: “For this year, I was telling my husband that last year was fun, but I think this year is going to be even better. So, my expectation for this year is going to top that of last year. Now, I am a member and tomorrow will be my birthday, so this trip is going to be a special birthday for me,” she stated.
For Macmon, a first-time Caravanite, the journey is an opportunity to experience the true essence of Ghana beyond the familiar cities of Accra and Kumasi.
“One of the expectations that I want to see in the culture of Ghana. My wife and I are on this trip. We really want to tour and see the various regions, see culture, food, people, and see what Ghana actually is. Because for so long it has been one way, Accra and Kumasi, but that is not the entire Ghana. Though we are Ghanaians, we want to see Ghana.
“The Heritage Caravan is something everyone should actually participate in. It is a lifetime thing. A memorable one that I will ask anybody to be one. Even if you are not a Ghanaian, come and feel Ghana and see what it entails. I will be glad to go more and more,” he stated.
Josephine, although not a registered participant on the trip, is thrilled to be part of the journey in a different capacity as a member of the medical team.
“I have heard a lot about Heritage Caravan. I listen to Citi News every day, so I was given the opportunity to join as a medical doctor for the trip. When I heard about it, it was sold out, unfortunately, but I got the opportunity to be part of the medical staff on the trip.
“Next time, I will save my money so that I will pay early and attend. I think it is a very nice trip where you get to meet people, connect with them, and make new friends. I am really hopeful to make new friends,” she stated.
