The Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, has extended her condolences to the family of Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), whose lifeless body was discovered on campus.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, February 27, when university security personnel found the deceased and subsequently alerted the police.

Investigations led to the arrest of 21-year-old Daniel Tuffuor, also a final-year student at KNUST, who has been remanded in police custody in connection with the alleged murder. Authorities suspect that the deceased and the accused were in a romantic relationship at the time of her death.

Speaking at the launch of Channel One TV‘s Heritage Month on Friday, February 28, Minister Gomashie strongly condemned the incident and called for greater tolerance among Ghanaians.

She expressed deep sorrow for the victim’s family, particularly her mother, and urged society to cultivate respect and appreciation for one another.

“We got the sad information of a life being cut short. Because some other child thought it was in his place to do something that caused the life of this young lady.

“My heart goes out to her family, especially to her mother and to all of us as Ghanaians. Let’s be more tolerant and appreciative of each other.”

The tragic incident has sparked widespread concern, with many calling for intensified efforts to address violence in relationships and ensure justice for the deceased.
