A tragic road accident has claimed the life of one military officer while leaving several others with severe injuries after an armoured vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a crash.
The unfortunate incident occurred at Saka, a suburb of the Bawku West District in the Upper East Region, on Saturday, February 22.
According to preliminary reports, the military personnel were traveling from Bawku to Bolgatanga when disaster struck.
Witnesses say the journey was progressing smoothly until one of the vehicle’s tires suddenly burst.
The unexpected explosion reportedly caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then tumbled violently before coming to a halt.
Upon receiving distress signals, local police officers in the district swiftly mobilised to the scene. With the support of residents from Saka, the police worked tirelessly to rescue the injured officers from the wreckage.
The injured were transported to the Zebilla District Hospital for urgent medical attention.
