The Ghana Publishing Company is set to implement a 24-hour shift policy starting from March 3, 2025, with Nana Kwasi Boatey, Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), assuring that the transition is both realistic and beneficial.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Friday February 21, Boatey emphasised that the company is not rushing the implementation, stressing that “No, we are not rushing. I promise you we are not. I am not in a hurry.”

He explained the detailed shift system that will be adopted, involving two shifts. The first eight-hour shift will be followed by a four-hour break for machine servicing and cleaning. Subsequently, another group will commence production from 8 PM to 4 AM, followed by another cleaning period before the next shift starts at 8 AM.

Boatey elaborated, “We are doing two shifts. So this is what happens: the operations, the first eight hours finishes, these machines need to be serviced, the environment needs to be cleaned… So we take a four-hour break. Then another group starts at 8 PM and they do production till 4 AM, we do then we start another cleaning, and then another shift starts at 8 AM.”

The CEO affirmed the feasibility and advantages of the new system, highlighting the positive feedback from engineers.

“The engineers have told me this is possible. This is realistic and we have all seen the benefits that this will bring to us,” Boatey said.

This new operational strategy is anticipated to enhance the company’s productivity and efficiency, marking a significant step forward for the Ghana Publishing Company.
