Renowned actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away. He reportedly died at Ridge Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for burns sustained in a domestic fire accident at his home on Friday, February 7.
The actor, a resident of Adenta SSNIT flats, was asleep in his bedroom when the fire broke out in the hall. He attempted to escape through the flames but collapsed outside. Neighbors rushed him to Ridge Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment until his untimely death.
Medical reports indicated that his chances of survival could only be assessed after 21 days. Tragically, he passed away today, February 21, just 13 days after the accident.
His death was confirmed by actor and Creative Lead for Image Bureau, George Quaye, who praised Semevo’s remarkable acting skills and paid tribute to his legacy.
In a heartfelt post, Quaye wrote, “In shadows deep, the stage now stands so bare, The laughter fades, replaced by heavy air…” In another tribute, he added, “A heart that danced through every tale and role, Now rests in peace. In sorrow’s sad grip…”
Mawuli Semevo was a highly acclaimed actor, celebrated for his exceptional talent and versatility on both stage and screen. His impressive career included standout performances in films such as “Harvest at 17,” “A Stab in the Dark,” “Escape of Love,” “Like Cotton Twines,” and “The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.” He also portrayed the role of Baba Fakunle in the adaptation of Ola Rotimi’s “The Gods Are Not to Blame,” staged by Image Bureau and April Productions at the National Theatre last year.
