President John Mahama has directed all his ministers and appointees to comply with the Asset Declaration process or face removal from office.

The President issued the warning when he officially declared his assets, at the seat of government – Jubilee House, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

According to him, appointees who fail to do that by the first quarter of 2025 will face the severe consequence of losing their appointment.

He reinforced his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance. The declaration, made in accordance with constitutional provisions, Article 286 of the 1992 constitution is seen as a bold step toward strengthening public confidence in leadership and promoting ethical governance.

“In the past, I would privately submit these forms to the Auditor-General to fulfill my statutory obligation. However, I have now chosen to make this process public as a demonstration of openness and accountability in governance.

“While punishing corruption is important, a more effective approach is preventing it before it happens. If properly implemented and enforced, asset declaration can serve as a sustainable tool in the fight against corruption,” Mahama stated in a remark.

The move underscores his administration’s stance on anti-corruption efforts and financial integrity.
