The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called for calm amidst the current cholera and cerebrospinal meningitis (CSM) outbreaks in the country.
He assured the public that the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and donor agencies, are actively managing the situation.
The Minister of Health also emphasized the need for continuous public sensitization and encouraged citizens to maintain clean environments, especially as the rainy season approaches, to help prevent further disease outbreaks.
He further urged the public to promptly report to health facilities if they suspect any symptoms of these diseases.
Speaking to the media after receiving a consignment of medical supplies from the World Health Organization (WHO) to support efforts in combating CSM in the Upper West Region, the Health Minister called on the donor and business community to support in urgently dealing with the health crises and assured the county of no death recorded within the cholera outbreak.
“I can confidently say that the situation is under control, our health professionals are on top of the issue and as we have already indicated WHO has also dispatched some technical assistance to us. We will be moving all of them to the northern part of the country. 
“Again we have enough antibiotics we can use to cure the outbreak but what we have consistently been advocating is the early reporting to health facilities.
