Concerned members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency in the Eastern Region, have criticized the parliamentary behaviour of Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the current Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency.

They claim his alleged call for New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters to confront NDC supporters physically has provoked widespread anger, contributing to tensions and violence surrounding the December 7 parliamentary elections

The members further allege that Annoh-Dompreh instructed the disconnection of cables and equipment, including consoles during the vetting chaos.

In a media address, the Spokesperson for the Concerned NDC members, Nana Kwame Okyere condemned Annoh-Dompreh’s conduct calling on him to resign with immediate effect.

“No one in this constituency supports the idea that Annoh-Dompreh leads us. We have observed a lot of his shameful conduct in Parliament. For a whole MP, having the ranking member carry a chair and place it in the committee proceedings dents the image of our constituency. No one wants such a leader in this country, that’s why we called for this press conference.

“He should resign as a Member of Parliament immediately. We call on the National Executive Council of the NDC to support our parliamentary candidate here at Nsawam,” he remarked.

The NDC supporters appealed to the NDC Majority Caucus to back their parliamentary candidate, Amenorpe Philbert Fummey, in their court challenge of the election results. Okyere alleged that Annoh-Dompreh provoked violence in Parliament and urged NPP supporters to attack NDC supporters physically, tarnishing the constituency’s reputation.

Okyere emphasized that Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituents do not want the current MP and invited anyone disputing his claims to appear in court on February 18. He noted that Annoh-Dompreh claimed a 210-vote margin victory in the December 7 parliamentary election, based on provisional EC results, which the NDC disputed, leading to unrest and property damage.

Okyere urged the entire Majority Caucus to support Fummey on February 18 as they contest the 2024 parliamentary election results in court.

“All the NDC National Executives and MPs should join us on the 18th, which is Tuesday. As we challenge the results, we call on you. Failure to pay heed to our call will attract a demonstration,” he warned.
