The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has brushed off threats by the Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, to disrupt parliamentary business if the Electoral Commission (EC) fails to declare Akua Afriyie as the winner of the 2024 parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North constituency.
Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC dismissed the Minority’s ultimatum, stating that their numbers are insufficient to halt government business in Parliament.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, Tanko Computer emphasised that the Minority, with only 88 members, cannot even form a quorum to conduct parliamentary proceedings.
“They are 88, they cannot even form a quorum to do any business in the house. Even if all our members decide not to come to parliament, what business can they do? They should get some laptops and sit in the house.
“I can assure you that the next time you get to the house you will see all our members at post and we will not need any of them. I am even going to write a memo to the Speaker of Parliament to procure tablets for the 88 people to sit in the house and monitor what is going on in the house.
“What is their use in the Hosue? They are just being disruptive or nothing. They are 88 and we are 183 plus 4 independent so how can they stop our business,” he stated.
