The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections for Ablekuma North, Daniel Tornyegah has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of adopting a whimsical approach in the electoral system thus undermining the democratic process of the country.
This comes in the wake of a controversial statement made by the Minority Chief Whip Frank threatening protests if the Ablekuma North seat is not declared for the NPP’s Akua Afriyie within a week.
In an interview with Channel One News, Tornyegah reiterated the NDC’s position for a rerun of the Ablekuma North Parliamentary election suggesting that there have been numerous discrepancies in the collation process.
He condemned the Minority Chief Whip’s statement, emphasising that it is an attempt by the party to prioritise their self-interest over the will of the people
“The generality of whimsical approach in our electoral system is what the NPP is always doing. They are always running to the public to make noise. Unfortunately, people we call ‘honourable’ want to subvert the will of the people because of their own parochial interests. What they are saying cannot be accepted,” he stated.
