The Minority in Parliament has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare Akua Afriyie as the winner of the 2024 parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

The EC was scheduled to resume the collation of parliamentary election results for the constituency on Friday, January 17, 2025.

However, the process was interrupted when more than 40 individuals stormed the venue, demanding that everyone vacate the premises and vandalise property, including louvre blades and doors.

During a visit by the leadership of the Minority Caucus to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma North, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh reiterated that the caucus would embark on a series of protests to press home their demand if the relevant stakeholders fail to address their concerns.

“We are giving the EC one week. The EC must come and declare our candidate as the winner of the Ablekuma North election. There are some people calling for a rerun of the elections.

“Shameful NDC [National Democratic Congress], if you believe you won, why destroy the pink sheets, why burn the electoral materials? Let’s all stand firm. God is with us. Ablekuma North is for the NPP. We are winning,” he said.
