Member of Parliament for Offinso North, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, has rejected claims that the Minority Caucus is destructive, arguing that they have been highly supportive of the NDC government.
According to him, the Minority has been the most effective in Ghana’s Parliament, always prioritizing the well-being of Ghanaians.
His remarks come in the wake of controversies surrounding the suspension of four MPs by Speaker Alban Bagbin.
Speaking to Channel One News, Asamoah highlighted what he described as the Minority’s constructive approach to vetting ministerial nominees.
He emphasized that their primary goal is to ensure that only the most qualified individuals are approved to serve in government.
“It would be wrong to say the minority is being destructive, in fact, we are being constructive. The minority caucus in parliament has been magnanimous to the NDC government and we have supported all that they are doing. But we also have to look out for the Ghanaian and we cannot allow the Ghanaian to be bullied.
“If the minority is bullied then it means the Ghanaian is bullied and I don’t think it’s fair. We are vetting them even to help the government to make sure he [Mahama] is having the right people to support its work. We are there to make sure that NDC succeeds. If the NDC succeeds, the Ghanaian people will benefit,” he said.
