The Ghana Police Service has arrested former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, along with two others, in connection with a violent clash during a football match that led to the death of one person.
The incident occurred on February 2, 2025, during a match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at Nsoatre in the Bono Region.
The other suspects have been identified as Agyemang Duah Owusu and Kyeremeh Joseph.
In a statement issued on February 3, the police confirmed that all three suspects are in custody and are assisting with investigations.

The match, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for Kotoko, was marred by intense confrontations both on and off the pitch.
Tensions reached a boiling point as players clashed, prompting the referee to issue four red cards. The violence escalated further after the final whistle, leading to chaotic scenes between rival supporters.
