The Minister-designate for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured the Appointments Committee of Parliament that contracts within the health sector will not be terminated without due diligence.
Speaking during his vetting on Friday, January 31, Mr. Akandoh emphasized the critical role of the private sector in national development, stating that any review of existing agreements would be based on necessity rather than arbitrary decisions.
“Mr. Chairman, we all know the private sector is the engine of growth, and I am not prepared to capriciously terminate any contract in the sector. When there is a need to review any agreement, I will do so,” he stated.
His comments come amid concerns about contract management in the health sector, particularly in areas such as procurement, service delivery, and public-private partnerships.
