Parents of candidates whose results have been withheld by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) have secured a court order for the results to be released.

The students numbering 10,520 were asked by WAEC to respond to allegations that caused the withholding of their results.

Their parents, however, challenged the decision of WAEC at the high court arguing the same to be unreasonable.

According to the lawyer on the case, Martin Kpebu, WAEC could not justify the grounds for withholding the results.

He explained that the examination body has not been able to point to the exact misconduct perpetuated by the students.

“WAEC does not have any charge against any of them. Per the constitution, administrative bodies cannot act like that. If they say someone has been involved in an examination malpractice or irregularities, be specific.

“To date, all these candidates, WAEC has not been able to pin a single charge on them,” he said.
