A musician, Ebenezer Chaka known by his stage name TsaQa has been charged with counts of defrauding by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud by false pretense together with two other persons.
He is alleged to have defrauded a businessman Kofi Amanakwa, owner of Amist Classic Hotel to the tune of GH₵ 70,000 under the pretense of getting Stonebwoy to perform at a concert at the said hotel in November 2024.
According to facts presented by the prosecution, he introduced the businessman who is the complainant to the two other accused persons Daniel Frimpong and Richmond Eshun also known as Kofi Gada.
Together, the accused persons are said to have received GH₵ 70,000 in two payment tranches of GH₵ 50,000 and GH₵ 20,000.
However, they failed to produce Stonebwoy to perform at the event. The three were thus arrested after a complaint was made and have since been charged.
They have pleaded not guilty to the counts and been granted bail to the tune of GH₵ 80,000 each with three sureties. The sureties must be public servants earning not less than GH₵ 5,000.
The court presided over by Circuit Court Judge, Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa-Abdul-Baasit instructed the accused persons to deposit their passports, and Ghana Cards at the court registry and report once every two weeks.
