The Minister-Designate for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has cautioned against allowing modern technological advancements to weaken the operational capacity of Ghana’s military.
Speaking during his vetting before the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Dr Omane Boamah acknowledged the resource constraints faced by the armed forces but praised their ability to innovate and adapt to challenges.
Dr. Omane Boamah assured that, under his leadership, efforts would be made to equip the military with the necessary resources to defend the nation’s sovereignty and effectively respond to both external threats and internal security challenges.
“I will say that let us not let technology paralyse our military. Because of the force that we have and the expertise they have across the globe. There is so much that they are doing with the little they have.
“So, they are people who innovate a lot. They are people who when supported will be able to do more for us. So, we will put all the balls together and ensure that our army is strengthened to be able to aggressively and timeously face any external aggression, and if they have to assist within our territory in maintaining law and order, they will do so professionally,” he stated.
