Parliament has officially approved the nominations of Ahmed Ibrahim, Naa Momo Lartey, and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare as ministers following an intense vetting process by the Appointments Committee.

The approval, announced on January 23, 2025, has cleared the way for the three appointees to assume their respective ministerial roles in the government.

Ahmed Ibrahim has been approved as Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, where he is expected to focus on decentralization and promoting development in rural areas.

In his vetting, Ibrahim assured the committee of his dedication to ensuring that resources are equitably distributed to underserved communities.

Naa Momo Lartey, now officially the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, has pledged to prioritize gender equality and child welfare.

During her vetting, she outlined her plans to tackle pressing issues such as child labour, domestic violence, and the challenges faced by vulnerable groups in society.

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has been approved as Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, and will oversee Ghana’s trade and industrial sectors.

She has committed to reviving dormant industries, such as the Komenda Sugar Factory, and strengthening agribusiness to reduce the country’s reliance on imports.

The approval of these nominees has been met with commendation from Members of Parliament, who lauded their qualifications and readiness to serve.

Several MPs expressed optimism about the contributions of the newly approved ministers toward addressing some of Ghana’s pressing challenges.

The swearing-in ceremony for the approved ministers is expected to take place in the coming days at the Jubilee House.
