Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the acting Spokesperson for President John Mahama, has called for calm amid concerns about gender and regional imbalances in the President’s recent ministerial appointments.

Critics, including the parliamentary minority, residents of certain constituencies, and gender advocates, have expressed dissatisfaction over what they perceive as a lack of representation in the President’s nominations.

Addressing the concerns in an interview with Channel One News, Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that forming a government involves more than just ministerial appointments.

According to Kwakye Ofosu, President Mahama has followed critical parameters to achieve the right balance in the appointments and urged stakeholders to trust the President’s broader vision for governance.

Kwakye Ofosu assured that President Mahama remains committed to inclusivity and equitable representation as his administration works to strengthen national unity and development.

” The reality is that there are only so many people that the president can appoint and he has done so having regard for all the parameters that need to be met and the factors that are taken into consideration to achieve the right balance. This goes beyond where or which region one comes from.

“I will urge them to be calm. There are many other opportunities for inclusion. There is still room for other forms of appointment that go beyond the ministerial positions we have made. In the Office of the President for instance, out of 16 appointments that have been made, 7 of them are women which represents 44%,” he said.
