Swedru Secondary School has launched its 66th Anniversary at the Annual Thanksgiving and Remembrance Service, a heartfelt event filled with gratitude, reflection, and commitment to the school’s growth.

Alumni joyfully sang the school anthem, dressed in the school’s unique cloth, as they reminisced about their days at Swedru Secondary School (Swesco). The service, marking the second edition of the Annual Thanksgiving and Remembrance, provided an opportunity for old students to reconnect, give thanks, and celebrate their shared history.

Global President Samuel Attah-Mensah encouraged alumni to stay connected and support the school’s development.

“If you are a Swesco person, this is our clarion call to all of you. Make sure that you connect and reconnect; it will do you some good because for me, it is doing me good. Serving Swesco is one honourable thing I give God the glory for, and it would be a shame if I had refused to do this. At times we go through pain, at times we have to sacrifice a lot, but when you sacrifice with contentment and joy, it is of good value. That is why we do what we do. I urge all of us to offer our commitment in the little ways that we can. It will do us good,” he stated.

The event featured updates on alumni-led projects, including expanding the dining hall and constructing new teacher bungalows. Alumni were encouraged to maintain positive attitudes, even in challenging situations, by Piesie Bishop Korankye Mensah.

“How can you be negative in a negative situation? The situation itself is negative, so how can you portray a negative attitude? How can you get a positive outcome? When the situation is negative, face it with a positive attitude,” he emphasized.

The ceremony concluded with a remembrance of departed alumni and the official launch of the 66th Anniversary celebrations.

Attendees expressed excitement about reconnecting and supporting the school.

“They have that zeal to do more for the school. I am excited already about the upcoming 66th Speech and Prize Giving Day,” remarked Piesie Golda Andam, Headmistress of Swedru Secondary School.

Social media personalities Jeff Arhin and Vivian Ocran, who became widely known for returning lost money found at the school, were also recognized. They shared how their act of honesty changed their lives.

“People find money and return it, so I thought I was doing something normal. I sent it to the authorities to be returned to the owner,” Jeff Arhin said.

“People were always laughing at me, saying I found money and returned it to my mistress. They were always laughing, but look at now. I am happy,” added Vivian Ocran.
