Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways, has assured the public of his commitment to completing uncompleted road projects initiated by the previous administration.

Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, January 20, 2025, Agbodza reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s dedication to seeing ongoing infrastructure projects through to completion.

He stressed that the government would prioritize quality over speed in executing significant road projects, ensuring they deliver long-term benefits to Ghanaians.

Agbodza further clarified that the $10 billion “Big Push” initiative is not limited to road construction but also encompasses a broad spectrum of critical infrastructure projects aimed at transforming the country’s development landscape.

“We think the road projects ought to be prepared properly, make sure value for money is achieved. And then presented to the finance minister for funding. At the same time, it’s the responsibility of the finance ministry to continue funding projects that are on-site.

“Big push is not about completing projects already on site, the major intervention project that can make a huge impact on the country. That is the difference, and so we are not going to stop ongoing projects.

“The president has already committed to that, however, the bug push projects are dedicated and significant projects that are not going to be rushed but will be done effectively so that all Ghanaians can get the impact of the projects.”
