The Osu Traditional Council has urged President John Dramani Mahama to ensure fairness and balance in appointing officials to serve in his government, particularly in positions within the Ga-Dangme area.
They emphasized the need for proper regional representation and the inclusion of Ga-Dangme indigenes in key roles within the region’s assemblies.
In an interview with Channel One News, Nii Nortey Adumuah IV, the kingmaker of the Osu Mantse Stool, highlighted that the cosmopolitan nature of the Greater Accra Region means many MPs are not indigenous to the area but represent constituencies within it.
He argued that appointing qualified Ga Dangme individuals as Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) would ensure a regional balance and foster better collaboration with MPs.
“Due to the cosmopolitan nature of Greater Accra, we have a lot of MPs who are not Ga-Dangmes but from other regions. It will be prudent enough that we have what we call the regional balance.
“It will be fair to take up a Ga-Dangme person to take up the MMDCE position to be able to help the sitting MPs deliver within the constituencies,” he said.
