Unidentified gunmen have ambushed and shot at a vehicle travelling from Kulugungu to the Bawku township.
The vehicle with registration number GA 4454-09 was under the escort of military officers, however, that did not deter the combatants from engaging in the shootout.
Even though, no casualty is confirmed, eyewitnesses say the shooting was intense.
The Bawku area still remains volatile despite several measures to curb the situation. Currently, a dawn-to-dusk curfew is imposed on the area.
On Tuesday, January 16, President John Mahama visited Bawku and Nalerigu as a path towards bringing lasting solutions to the conflict in the area.
