Authorities in Takoradi, Western Region, have launched an investigation into the heartbreaking deaths of two siblings who were found unresponsive in a water drum.

The tragic event unfolded on January 9, 2025, when the siblings, aged 12 and 8, were playing with their six-year-old sister.

According to reports, the older siblings had asked their younger sister to close the lid of the drum while they were inside.

Unfortunately, she was unable to reopen it, leading to the devastating outcome. The incident was reported to the police at approximately 6:45 PM.

Earlier that afternoon, around 3 PM, the children’s mother received a distressing call from her grandmother, informing her that the kids had been discovered unconscious in the water-filled drum located in the family’s kitchen.

Despite being rushed to the Takoradi Government Hospital in an attempt to save their lives, the siblings were pronounced dead upon arrival. Their bodies have been placed in the hospital’s morgue as the investigation continues.
