In a significant move aimed at streamlining government operations and enhancing efficiency and as part of efforts to fulfil his 60 ministers promise, President John Dramani Mahama has reduced the number of ministries from 30 to 23.
This decision is part of his broader strategy to create a leaner and more effective government structure.
President Mahama in an executive instrument dated January 9, 2025 noted that “In the power conferred on the president under section 11(3) of the Civil Service Act, 1993 (P.N.D.C.L 327) this instrument is made this 9th day of January, 2025.”
He has established Ministries in the civil service including the following
Ministry of Finance
Ministry of Health
Ministry of Interior
Ministry of Defence
Ministry of Education
Ministry of Roads and Highways
Ministry of Transport
Ministry of Sports and Recreation
Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice
