Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has embarked on a spiritual journey to Mecca to perform Umrah, the Islamic pilgrimage.
Accompanied by his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, and some friends, Dr. Bawumia arrived in Mecca on Thursday, January 9, to partake in the sacred rites of Umrah.
In a Facebook post on Friday, January 10, 2025, statement, Dr. Bawumia said it was to express his gratitude to the Almighty Allah for His grace and blessings.
“Together with Hajia Samira Bawumia and some friends, I arrived in Mecca yesterday to perform Umrah (Islamic Pilgrimage to Mecca).
“This is to thank the Almighty Allah for His grace. We also prayed for guidance and protection for us and for our nation, Ghana,” he stated.
The pilgrimage to Mecca holds significant spiritual importance for Muslims, and Dr. Bawumia’s participation underscores his deep faith and commitment to seeking divine guidance.
The former Vice President’s prayers for Ghana reflect his dedication to the nation’s well-being and his desire for continued peace and prosperity.
