Residents in Ho and surrounding areas in the Volta Region are appealing to Ghana Water Limited (GWL) to urgently resolve the water supply challenges affecting the Ho township and nearby communities.
The affected residents, who have endured water shortages for nearly three weeks, say the situation is disrupting their daily activities and increasing the risk of waterborne diseases.
“We currently bathe only once a day, and some of us have resorted to using sachet water because joining long queues for water makes us late for work. Water is essential to our daily lives. If this situation persists, we might struggle to get to work regularly. This could lead to issues with our employers,” stated Bright Boafo, a resident in Ho.
” We fall on people who have poly tanks. We beg them to get one bucket. At times, we use sachet water to cook, so we don’t bathe regularly. We manage and bathe in the evening,” said Grace Dzantor, another resident of Ho.
“We are going through a lot in my area and there are many students, nursing training and others. We don’t even have boreholes around to fetch water. Initially, the students were not around, but they came back expecting to have water but there was none,” another resident, Nelson Mavor stated.
