Executive Director for the Institute for Energy Security Nana Amoasi VII has lauded President John Mahama’s decision to nominate John Abdulai Jinapor as the Minister of Energy.
This follows the nomination of Dr Cassiel Ato Forson as the Minister Designate for the Finance Ministry, John Jinapor as Minister Designate for the Energy Ministry and Dominic Ayine as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Designate by the President.
In an interview with Channel One TV, he underscored Jinapor as a young and charismatic individual whose decision and youthful approach will be pivotal in addressing the energy sector’s problems
“The timing is right. He has done the right thing by selecting somebody to occupy that space. Now to the choice of Hon. John Jinapor, yes as a young man energetic, he brings the same character to the Energy Ministry, that is energy and charisma. That charisma is important to drive every player and utility along in finding solutions to the problem at hand,” he said.
He further advised Jinapor to keep a watchful eye on the entire energy sector, ensuring he is informed about developments and issues beyond just the regulatory and utility aspects once he assumes full responsibility as minister.
“But then, you need to be more engaging, more extensive in his engagement and collaborations to ensure that aside from dealing with regulatory agencies and utilities, he still has a form of control and eyes around the general space. This goes to cover the civil society organisations and any other industry watcher,” he said.
