Electrochem Ghana Limited has strongly condemned an attack on its premises by armed thugs claiming affiliation with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The assault took place at 3:00 am on Thursday, January 9, 2024, when a group of assailants invaded and looted the company’s facility. In a press statement, Electrochem revealed that the attackers, led by a known NDC activist, explicitly stated they were sent by the NDC headquarters.
Electrochem described the attack as a disturbing trend that threatens the safety of its staff and undermines the integrity of the company’s operations.
The assailants reportedly stole essential office supplies as well as a quantity of salt products from the warehouse.
Electrochem has called on the government to take immediate action to address the ongoing issue by deploying security personnel to apprehend those responsible.
“We urgently implore the government to take a firm stance against this violence by directing security agencies to swiftly apprehend and prosecute those responsible for this egregious act. The perpetrators of this attack must be held accountable for their actions, and their prosecution should serve as a deterrent to others who might contemplate similar acts of aggression against our operations in the future,” the presser stated.
