National Identification Authority (NIA) contract workers hired to aid in the Ghana Card registration for children under 15 are calling for their unpaid salaries for the months of October and November 2024.

The group, known as “Team One Nationwide,” assert that they have diligently executed their duties but have yet to receive any compensation.

Frustration has grown among the staff as their efforts to address the matter through formal letters and meetings with NIA leadership have yielded no results.

Matilda Tsri told Channel One News in an interview on Wednesday that “Despite our efforts to address this diplomatically, there has been no formal communication from the NIA on when our wages will be paid. Meanwhile, other teams involved in the same exercise have already been compensated.”

The workers also allege that the NIA directed them to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) for payment.

However, the NHIA has denied any responsibility, redirecting them back to the NIA, leaving the contract staff in limbo.
