The Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has given indications that he would turn down any potential ministerial appointment, especially to the health sector, in the incoming John Dramani Mahama administration.

Given his background and expertise as a medical doctor, he has been speculated by some as a potential candidate for the next Minister of Health.

However, in an interview on Channel One TV, Omane Boamah said that he is unlikely to be considered for a ministerial role, emphasising his focus on contributing to the party and the nation in other capacities.

“I will be absolutely surprised if I get an appointment. People should disabuse their minds. Perhaps it is because I am a medical doctor, a health policy planning and financing person.

“I have been with President Mahama for a very long time and I do not believe it is on his mind. It is something that if I am asked, I will turn down,” he stated.
