The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended the collation of results for the Ablekuma North Constituency with 7 polling stations outstanding.
Of the 20 polling stations that were outstanding before Monday’s collation exercise, the various presiding officers authenticated 13 of the pink sheets presented to the commission by the New Party (NPP).
According to the commission, it has been unable to reach the presiding officers for the remaining 7 polling stations, hence the decision by the returning officer to suspend Monday’s exercise.
Vincent Obeng, Returning Officer for Ablekuma North, said the final decision has therefore been deferred to the Electoral Commission headquarters.
“As we began this morning, I told you we are left with 20 polling stations, and I called my presiding officers to come and authenticate. I had 12 of them who came to authenticate, and NDC also tendered in three pink sheets of which two already the presiding officers have authenticated.
“So we were able to do an extra one, making 13 pooling stations. So as it stands now, we are still left with seven pooling stations to be confirmed by the presiding officers. Since they are not here, I refer the work to the commission for the commission to decide on that.”
