President-elect John Dramani Mahama has instructed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Leadership to nominate The Right Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin as Speaker of the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
This directive follows consultations with the party’s leadership and recognizes Bagbin’s exceptional parliamentary service. Bagbin, a veteran legislator, has held several key positions, including Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and Speaker of the 8th Parliament.
President-elect Mahama praised Bagbin’s extensive experience, emphasizing his capacity to guide Parliament in strengthening its oversight responsibilities and advancing Ghana’s democratic and legislative agenda.
The nomination aligns with the NDC’s vision to enhance parliamentary governance and promote a collaborative legislative framework during this pivotal period in the nation’s development.
The announcement was communicated in an official statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Special Aide to the President-elect.
